Getting pregnant need not be a difficult time. If you're just starting to think about ovulation, then you may just need to be patient. Many couples that are actively trying to become pregnant will not see the results of their attempts for up to a year. One of the first ways that you can start to calculate ovulation is to purchase or make an ovulation calendar. This is simply a regular calendar upon which you will start to keep track of your periods as well as your overall cycle. An ovulation calendar allows you to see if your menstrual cycles are regular or if they are sporadic, alerting you and your doctor to something more complicated than just bad timing. To determine ovulation, you will want to write down the beginning and the end of each period for a few months to see if the cycles are regular. You can do this by counting the days from the first cycle of one month to the first day of the cycle in the following month. Ideally, these cycles should be the same.
Irregular ovulation can occur when your cycles are not consistent. You might have early ovulation or late ovulation, making it more difficult to time your sexual intercourse plans. Sperm only lives inside you for two days so timing 'is' important. In these cases, you may want to look into ovulation kits to help you further test your ability to conceive. These kits will also come with an ovulation calendar as well as an ovulation predictor. This is generally a test for the level of hormones that are in your body at any given time. A sudden rush of hormones in the body indicates that you are just about ready to ovulate and should be having intercourse in the next few days. You simply use ovulation test strips in a stream of urine to monitor your hormone levels.
There are a number of ovulation kits that can help you learn how to calculate ovulation. While they can become expensive, they are also highly accurate in telling you when your best ovulation days are. Some examples of these kits include the Clearblue ovulation kit which can be found in a number of drugstores in almost every town. Ovulation timing is a tricky science, but with an ovulation kit, your chances are better than ever. Simply use the kit as directed and you might be pregnant before you know it.
